Book in about a minute, or ring and speak to Ellen.
Nothing to pay when you book. If you are not sure which appointment you need, telephone and describe the problem — we would rather spend two minutes on the phone than put you in the wrong forty-minute slot.
Sudden change in your sight? New floaters, flashes, a curtain across your vision, or a red painful eye — telephone, do not book online. We hold two emergency slots every morning.
Booking
Request an appointment.
We reply the same working day. Tell us if you think you qualify for a free NHS test and we will check it before you come in.
Before you come
Worth knowing.
What should I bring?
Your current glasses, any contact lenses you wear and their boxes, a list of medication, and your benefit letter or HC2 certificate if you are claiming a free NHS test. If you drive, bring the glasses you drive in.
Will my eyes be dilated? Can I drive afterwards?
Usually not — the retinal camera and the OCT see most of what dilation is for. If we do need to dilate, we will tell you when you book, it lasts about four hours, and you should not drive during it. Bring sunglasses or somebody to drive you.
How long will I be there?
Forty minutes for the examination, sixty with OCT. Add another twenty to half an hour if you are choosing frames afterwards, and Tom will not rush that either.
Can I bring my children to my own appointment?
Yes. There is room in the consulting room and toys in the corner of it. If they are also due a test, say so when you book and we will put the appointments together.
What if I need to cancel?
Telephone whenever you know. There is no fee. A forty-minute slot is hard to fill at short notice, so as much notice as you can manage is genuinely useful — but we will not charge you for being ill.
How do I complain?
Speak to Nadia first, in person or on the telephone — most things are sorted the same day. If that does not resolve it, write to the practice and we will respond within ten working days. You can also raise a concern with the General Optical Council, or with the Optical Consumer Complaints Service.
Or just walk in
You do not need an appointment to look at frames.
Or to have your glasses straightened, a nose pad replaced, or a screw put back in. That has never been chargeable here and it is not about to become chargeable.
