Since 2016
Started because Anya was tired of six-minute NHS slots
Lintel opened on Riverside Walk in 2016, when Anya Ferrand left NHS MSK outpatients wanting to give patients longer than the six minutes a stretched clinic list allowed. The name is a small joke that turned out to be the whole idea: a lintel is the beam that carries the load over a doorway so the wall above doesn't come down. Most of what walks through our door is exactly that — something bearing more than it was built for.
Marcus joined in 2019 to bring chiropractic in-house rather than referring it out, and Dean in 2021 to run a proper podiatry and gait service after one too many runners were sent away with "just rest it." We're still a small clinic on purpose — four disciplines, one shared set of notes, no referral letters lost between departments.
Who treats you
Three clinicians, four disciplines between them

Anya Ferrand
Lead Physiotherapist & Clinic Founder
Eleven years in MSK, five of them NHS outpatients before opening Lintel. Interest in return-to-running and post-surgical rehab.

Marcus Oyelaran
Chiropractor
Joined 2019 from a sports-focused practice in Leeds. Treats spinal and joint-related pain, and works closely with Anya on shared cases.

Dean Wicklow
Podiatrist
Runs the gait analysis and orthotics service. Particular interest in overuse injuries in distance runners training on the moor.
Anya told me on the first visit that six sessions in, if it wasn't working, we'd say so rather than keep booking me in. That alone was worth the price.

What people actually say afterwards
Dean spotted in ten minutes what two other clinics had missed for a year — a leg-length difference nobody had measured properly.
Robert King · runner, plantar fasciitis
Marcus explained exactly what an adjustment would feel like before he did it, which sounds small until you've been nervous about it for weeks like I had been.
Priya Chandra · new patient, neck pain
Got an appointment the same week I called, which after an eight-month NHS waiting list felt like a different country.
Graham Ashworth · knee ligament injury

We're happy to show you round before you book, no obligation.
