Before you book

The questions we get asked most

Will it hurt?

Manual therapy can be uncomfortable in the moment, especially on a joint or muscle that's already inflamed, but treatment should never push past what you can tolerate. Tell us at any point and we'll adjust the pressure or the technique — a session that leaves you worse for two days is treatment done wrong, not treatment working.

Do I need a GP referral?

No — physiotherapy, chiropractic and podiatry in the UK are all self-referral services, and most of our patients book directly. The exception is if your symptoms include unexplained weight loss, pain that wakes you at night, or numbness/weakness that's spreading — we screen for these at your first appointment and will refer you to your GP first if needed.

Is Lintel recognised by my health insurer?

We're recognised by Bupa, AXA Health and Vitality. Confirm your specific policy covers physiotherapy/chiropractic/podiatry and check any excess before booking — we're happy to help you check this over the phone.

What should I wear, and how long is the first appointment?

Loose, comfortable clothing that lets us see and move the joint in question — shorts for a knee or hip problem, a vest top for a shoulder. The initial assessment is 45 minutes; follow-ups are 30.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged in full, since that slot could otherwise have gone to someone waiting in pain.
