Water-related areas need a project-specific assessment. These questions help you prepare for that discussion without treating a diagram or design preview as a waterproofing specification.
Questions for the qualified provider.
What needs inspecting before a scope is agreed?
Describe the room’s use, existing finish and any known history. Ask what further information or inspection is needed before a suitable system can be discussed.
How will the parts work together?
Ask how the supporting surface, water management, tile, joints and fittings relate in the proposed solution. Request the relevant product and project information from the provider.
Who coordinates the drain and fittings?
Identify which provider confirms positions, interfaces and related work. Keep unresolved responsibilities visible on the project sheet.
What happens at corners, recesses and thresholds?
Ask to review the actual details as part of one proposal. A neat-looking tile face alone does not describe the performance of the system behind it.
What if the existing condition changes the plan?
Discuss how new findings are documented, how any scope change is explained and who needs to agree it.
What records should I keep?
Ask for the agreed specification, relevant product information and the provider’s handover and care guidance.
Bring to the discussion.
Put the questions in one place.
The survey sheet leaves room for the actual findings.
