About Stitch & Skein

A made-up shop with a real counter voice: patient, specific, and unwilling to pretend a dye lot will match next month.

A brown skein of wool hanging over a dye pot

We are a made-up shop, written so you can poke at a shade card and a basket without spending real money. The voice is the one we would want at a real counter: patient, specific, and unwilling to pretend a dye lot will match next month.

In the story of the place, Mara Ellison dyes the wool and Sam Adeyemi runs the classes. They opened the Fleece Yard room because the town already had enough places to hurry. Mondays are for the vat. Thursdays are for whoever turns up with a project.

We do not claim awards, press or a famous pattern library. The leaflets on the shelf were written here. The cotton balls are mill-dyed and priced like it. If a skein is out, it is out until the next vat, not quietly replaced with a different lot.
