Counsel was founded in 1998 by two advisers who kept being asked the same thing: “what would you do, honestly?” Twenty-five years later that is still the service — careful work done properly, and honest counsel given plainly, even when it is not what the client hoped to hear.
How we choose to practise
We stay deliberately mid-sized: large enough that every discipline is in the building, small enough that the partner who wins your work does your work. We decline engagements we cannot staff properly, we put every fee in writing before we begin, and we have never once charged for a telephone call. The result is a client list built almost entirely on introduction.
