Built for coal, 1798. Slept in ever since.

Marram House was put up by a coal merchant who wanted his office where he could see his boat. It has been a chandler’s, a doctor’s surgery, three flats and — since 2014 — six rooms and a breakfast table. Nothing here has been “boutiqued”: the floors slope because the building is 228 years old and standing on a quay, and we would rather tell you that than photograph around it.
