An unhurried examination, and nothing sold from the chair

A sight test here is a clinical appointment that happens to take place in a shop, and we keep those two things apart. Forty minutes are booked for it, the images go on the screen in front of you, and the dispensing conversation happens afterwards with the prices already published. The original 1974 display case is still in the front window — most of what is in it is not for sale.

What forty minutes looks like

“A sight test is not a transaction with a pair of glasses at the end of it. It is a clinical examination that happens to take place in a shop. Keeping those two things straight is most of the job.”
Ruth Ellery MCOptom DipTp(IP) · principal optometrist · GOC 01-24518
