Home visits, and what to do out of hours

If you cannot leave home unaccompanied you are entitled to an NHS sight test at home, and we do them across York and the villages — ring and ask. Outside our hours, urgent eye problems go to NHS 111, who will route you to the on-call ophthalmology service at York Hospital. If you have sudden loss of vision, a curtain across your sight, or a chemical splash, go straight to A&E.
Urgent eyecare

Today, not next week

Do not wait for a routine appointment. We hold urgent slots every weekday — telephone triage first, then a face-to-face appointment normally within 24 hours. No referral needed.
