I chose the stone colour on their website before I ever visited — watching the little gem change from white to blue as I clicked was the moment I actually understood the options, rather than just nodding along.

Where the gold comes from
Named where we have permission, asked for at collection rather than at the emotional high point of a proposal.
Every other jeweller we visited would not say a number until we sat down. Solvay & Rowe had guide prices on the wall. We knew what we could afford before we walked in, which meant we actually enjoyed the appointment.
My mother’s ring needed resizing and I was terrified of losing a stone. Elena talked me through exactly how the setting protects them before she touched it. It came back the same afternoon.
Seven weeks, exactly as they said. The CAD render meant there were no surprises — what I approved on screen is precisely what arrived in the box.
Questions people actually ask
The ones that come up on nearly every consultation, answered at the length they deserve.
Because the number is the first thing anyone actually wants to know, and hiding it just moves the question to a phone call nobody enjoys making. Our guide prices are real ranges from real commissions — the exact figure is confirmed at your design consultation, in writing, before anything is made.
Chemically, physically and to any grading laboratory, yes — a lab-grown stone is carbon in the same crystal structure, graded on the same 4Cs scale, and about 30–40% less expensive for an equivalent grade. Roughly half of our engagement ring commissions now choose one. We will never tell you which to pick.
Most can, within reason — a size and a half either way is routine, more than that depends on the setting. Resizing is £45 and usually a same-day service if you booked ahead. Eternity bands set all the way round are the exception; we will tell you honestly at the consultation if your design will be hard to resize later.
Most home insurers want a written valuation, updated roughly every five years as gold and stone prices move. Every commission over £500 leaves with one; for an older piece we can value it in the boutique for £45, no obligation to buy anything.
The gold is recycled 18ct and 9ct by default — melted from old jewellery and refined rather than newly mined. Every diamond, lab-grown or natural, is traded under the Kimberley Process, and we are audited against the Responsible Jewellery Council’s own standard, not just a member of it.
