Preparation

What the dealer margin actually buys.

Eight things happen to every car between arriving and being priced. It takes five to ten working days, and it is the entire difference between us and an auction.

Bought, not taken in blind

Every car is inspected and provenance-checked before we buy it. If the history is wrong we do not buy it, which is why the forecourt holds sixty cars and not two hundred.

Full service

Oil, filters, plugs and any fluid past its interval, to the manufacturer schedule. Invoiced, and the invoice is in the folder.

Fresh MOT

A new twelve-month MOT on the day it goes on sale, rather than whatever was left on it.

Brakes, tyres and cambelt

Pads and discs replaced below 4mm. Tyres replaced below 3mm and matched across the axle. Cambelt done if it is within 10,000 miles of its interval.

Second provenance check

Re-run on the day you collect, because finance can be taken out against a car after we have bought it.

Paint and body

Machine polish, and any dent or scuff larger than a ten pence piece put right. We photograph what we did not fix and show you that too.

Two keys

If a car arrives with one key we cut and code a second before it goes on sale.

Twelve-month warranty

Parts and labour, at our workshop or any VAT-registered garage you choose. No mileage cap.

Finance

The monthly figure, and everything standing behind it.

In the year the FCA is implementing a £7.5 billion redress scheme over motor finance commission, a dealer who puts the payment in the headline and the terms in a footer PDF is telling you something. Ours sit in the same box, at the same size.
