A surgery that runs to time

Dr Elin Marsh opened Hollybank in 2011 with one rule: the appointment is not over until the patient has said everything they came to say. Fifteen years on we are three clinicians and a full diagnostic suite in a Victorian house by Wells Walk — and the average wait in our front room last quarter was four minutes. We book fewer appointments than the day could hold, on purpose; the waiting room has armchairs and the day’s papers, and most patients barely get through the headlines.

Why patients keep their NHS GP — and still come here

Most of our patients are not leaving the NHS; they are buying time. Time to be seen today instead of in three weeks, time to talk through the second and third thing on the list, time for a proper examination rather than a referral reflex. We work alongside your NHS practice, write to them with your consent after anything significant, and hand you a clear plan on paper before you leave. You won’t be asked to explain your history from scratch, because the clinician in front of you has already read it.

What we do

Same-day GP appointments

Thirty unhurried minutes for £95, booked from 8:00 each morning. Extended hour-long consultations for the complicated things — £175.

Health checks & diagnostics

The Hollybank Health Check (90 minutes, bloods, ECG and a written plan) is £395. Individual panels from £45, most results back inside 48 hours.

Clinics & minor surgery

Menopause, travel medicine and childhood immunisations weekly; joint injections and minor surgery with Dr Okafor on Thursdays, from £160.

Price your visit before you ring

Start from a consultation and add the checks you want done on the day — the plan card keeps a running guide price. Nothing is booked or charged here; bring the plan to the phone and we will match it.

The people you’ll see

Three clinicians, no locum roulette. You see the same faces visit after visit — because half of good medicine is knowing the person in front of you.

A feel for the place

“Dr Marsh caught my thyroid problem at a routine health check after two years of being told I was just tired. Booked Monday morning, seen Monday lunchtime, results Wednesday.”
Margaret H., Ben Rhydding — patient since 2019

Questions we answer every week

The four things every new patient asks — and the honest answers. The full list lives on our FAQ page.

No. Most of our patients stay registered with their NHS practice and use us alongside it — for speed, for time, or for a second opinion. With your permission we write to your NHS GP after any appointment that matters to your ongoing care.

A standard 30-minute consultation is £95, and the fee is confirmed when you book — never after. Blood tests, ECGs and other checks are priced individually on our fees page, and you can total a visit yourself with the visit builder above.

Usually, yes. We hold same-day slots every weekday morning and release them at 8:00 when the phones open. Ring at eight and you will almost always be seen before lunch.

Yes — we refer privately and, where appropriate, back into the NHS. Our referral letters go out within one working day, and we chase the appointment rather than leaving it with you.
