What people ask about the price
The four we get on nearly every first phone call.
Usually the sub-base. Ask the other quotation how deep they are digging and what goes in the hole. If it does not say, that is the difference, and you will find out about it in about four years.
The schedule is the stone, supplied. Laying is quoted separately because it depends on access, levels and what is already there — a first-floor terrace and a flat back garden are not the same job.
We ask for the materials on delivery, because the yard wants paying, and the rest on completion. Never a deposit before anything arrives.
We tell you before we go any further, with the figure, and you decide. On a fixed-price quotation the only things that move it are things nobody could see — an old slab, a spring, a drain nobody knew about.
