Bathrooms, showers and wet rooms

A new bathroom, in days you can count

Choose the scope, see the stages and the days each one takes, and get a sample price range. A real quote follows a free visit and lists every line, including taking the old suite away.

What kind of job is it?

Three scopes, each with its stages, timings and a sample range. All figures are samples for a fictional firm and a guide only.

What kind of job?

A like-for-like swap in the space the shower is in now. Moving it, or building new walls, makes it a bigger job.

A guide, not a quote. A free visit gives a written price, line by line. Sample ranges for a fictional firm in pounds. Real prices vary with the room, the fittings and the access.

The stages, day by day

Water is off in 2 of 4 stages, usually for part of a day at a time (sample). We tell you before each one, so you can fill a kettle and a few bottles first.

  1. Day 1Water off, old shower out

We turn the water off at the stopcock, take out the old tray, screen or unit and take it away.

    Water off
  2. Day 1Pipes and waste

New pipes and waste are fitted or adjusted, and the wall behind is checked and made good.

    Water off
  3. Days 1 to 2Fit the new shower

The tray, screen and mixer or valve go in and the seals are run. The water is back on.

    Water stays on
  4. Day 2Test and tidy

We test for leaks and temperature, let the sealant cure and clean up. You get a note of what was done.

    Water stays on

Day numbers are a guide: drying times, deliveries and what we find behind the walls can move them.

The small print, made big

Everything on the quote

A good quote names each stage and what it includes, so there is nothing to argue about at the end. Ours always lists the following.

  • Taking the old suite away and making good the walls and floor.
  • Which parts are ours, and which are done by named partners, such as tiling and electrics.
  • The VAT line, on its own, and the deposit and stage payments, with dates.
  • A day-by-day plan, so you know when the water will be off.
