How a sitting works
You call or write with roughly what you need, and Ben or Constance calls back within a day to talk through timing, location and what to wear — this conversation is free and commits you to nothing. On the day itself, studio sittings run to the time stated on your booking, with a few minutes either side for the youngest sitters to settle or the nervous ones to relax. Within a week you’ll have an online gallery of every usable frame, password-protected, to look through at your own pace. Choose your favourites and Priya begins retouching immediately; prints, frames and albums are ordered separately once you’ve chosen, so you are never paying for anything before you’ve seen it.
Deposits, rescheduling and what to wear
A deposit of £50 secures a studio sitting, or 20% for a wedding, and comes off your final bill. Reschedule with more than 48 hours’ notice and we’ll move your date at no cost; inside that window we do our best but cannot always guarantee it, since another client is usually waiting for the same slot. On clothing: plain colours photograph better than busy patterns, and if you’re sitting as a family we’ll happily look at outfits over email beforehand and tell you honestly if something will fight with something else. Bring a change of clothes if you can — it rarely hurts, and sometimes makes the difference between a good sitting and the one you actually frame.
“They talked us through outfits by email before we even arrived. Small thing, but it meant four adults and a toddler all looked like they belonged in the same photograph.”
The Whitfield family, 2025Choosing between a studio sitting and an on-location shoot
Most portraits, headshots and family sittings happen in the studio, where the light is consistent whatever the weather is doing outside — useful in Shropshire more often than you would hope. Weddings and some family sittings happen on location instead, and either Constance or Idris will visit beforehand if the venue is unfamiliar, so the day itself holds no surprises. Corporate sittings can go either way: many firms prefer the studio for consistency across a large team, though we regularly travel to offices in Shrewsbury, Hereford and further afield for boardroom sessions where bringing forty people to us simply is not practical.
