The rides

Twenty-four rides in five corners of the valley

Every card shows its height band up front — the same four band names as the wristbands at the gate. No queueing forty minutes to be turned away at the front.
The Hollow

The Bramblewick Bolt

Our big one — 720 metres of coaster threaded through the oak wood. The drop into the Hollow is the photo you will take home.

125cm+
The Green

The Netherdale Wheel

Thirty-two metres up, eight minutes round. On a clear day you can see the whole dale — and on a very clear one, York Minster.

90cm+
The Beck

Beckwater Flume

Four minutes of drifting, one four-second plunge, guaranteed wet socks. Ponchos £1 at the kiosk or bring your own.

110cm+
The Orchard

The Gallopers

Our 1926 carousel, restored twice and repainted every winter. The horses have names; ask at the gate for the list.

Any height
The Green

Chair-o-Plane

The classic swinging chairs, gentler than they look — the view over the lake does most of the thrilling.

110cm+
The Green

Dodgems

Twelve cars, proper sparks, and the same argument about who crashed into whom that your parents had here in 1988.

How tall is your smallest?

Pick a height and see the day before you book it. We measure at the gate and issue wristbands in the same four bands — Acorn, Sapling, Rowan, Oak — so nothing is a surprise once you are through the turnstile.

If it rains

The Orchard Barn, the railway and both afternoon shows run whatever the sky does. Washed out before noon? Your ticket comes back within 30 days for £5.

Bring the cool box

Picnics are not tolerated here, they are expected. Sixty tables, two lawns, and the kettle hut sells boiling water for a flask refill at 20p.

How long is a day?

A full lap with a picnic in the middle is about six hours. Gates at 10:00; the Bolt last train goes at 17:00 sharp.

Access

Queue Assist wristbands (we recognise the Access Card), a Changing Places room by the gate, and a quiet hour before opening on the first Sunday of the month.

Eat well, or bring your own — both are winning

The Orchard Kitchen

Proper lunches cooked on site — a £6.50 kids plate that is not beige, and Sunday roasts through winter lantern season. Food hygiene rating: 5.

The Parlour

Dairy ice cream churned at Aiskew Grange, eight miles up the dale. A single cone is £2.80 and the flake is not extra.

The picnic lawns

Sixty tables, free water fountains, and a microwave in the Orchard Barn for baby food. We only ask that the wasps share is surrendered gracefully.

The morning walk-round

Checked every morning. Certified every year.

Every ride here holds a current Declaration of Operational Compliance under ADIPS, the UK amusement-ride inspection scheme, renewed by an independent inspection body every twelve months. Every morning before the gates open our engineers walk the park with the same checklists the HSE fairground guidance asks for, and the day sheets are signed before the first train leaves the station. We are members of BALPPA, and we will show any visitor the certificates on request. Really. People ask about twice a year and it makes our week.

Checked the height finder before we told the kids. Our smallest is 92cm — fourteen rides, it said, and fourteen rides it was. No gate tears for the first time in three years.

It hammered down from eleven till one. Barn, railway, magic show, flask refilled for 20p — and the sun came out for the Bolt. The rain plan on the site is not marketing, it is just true.

Took my granddaughter for her sixth birthday. £19 for me, free railway all day, and a bench with the best view in Yorkshire. I did the Wheel twice; she did the Gallopers eleven times.

The kettle hut is on. The Wheel is turning.
