Idris Hale

Producer

“Under about sixty hertz you stop hearing and start being moved.”

Idris Hale makes records from the floor up. Before a topline, before a voice, he wants to know what a body will do when the low end arrives.

He came up engineering club systems that were too big for the rooms they were hired into, and he still talks about concrete the way other people talk about chorus. His last three releases were mixed standing, shoes off, because he does not trust a chair.

He tells Mara that a crowd is part of the instrument, and that the decent thing is to stop before the trick shows.
