FAQ
Before you write to us.
Straight answers. If yours is not here, the visit form is.
Where do you work?
Richmond, Kew, Petersham, Ham, Barnes and the neighbouring reaches of the Thames. Outside that, we take design and build if the travel still lets us maintain it properly. We will say no.
Do you only take maintenance if you designed the garden?
No. Plenty of Seed and Canopy gardens were made by someone else, or by the owner. We do ask for a season to edit what is not working rather than preserving every mistake.
How soon can you visit?
Usually within four working days. Saturday mornings fill first. The studio is closed Sunday and Monday.
Is the first visit free?
The first walk inside our usual area is free if it is a real prospect, not a measuring service for another contractor. If you want a written survey only, we quote it.
Can you start a build in winter?
Stone and drainage, yes, if the ground allows. Planting of evergreens and perennials prefers September to November, or March. We will not plant into a freeze to hit a date.
Do you use peat, or artificial grass?
No peat. No plastic lawns. If you want either, we are the wrong studio and we will tell you quickly.
What does a plan not include?
House repairs, large tree surgery over the scope of a gardener, and party-wall negotiations. Those are named and introduced, not hidden inside the monthly figure.
How do I stop?
A month’s notice, in writing. We leave the notes. The garden does not depend on a login.
Book a visit
A walk, not a pitch.
We look at soil, shade and how you actually use the garden. If we are the wrong studio, we say so.
Serving Richmond, Kew, Kingston, Petersham, Ham and Barnes. Further afield only when we can still maintain the work.
