About the spa

A mill house, a short race of water, and rooms that face the garden rather than the lane.

A timber-framed mill house with a red roof beside a wooden barn
Library photograph of a mill house. The Old Mill at Hartbridge is imagined for this sample.

Why we stayed small

Rooms we can keep quiet

Stillwater opened in 2014 in the old mill at Hartbridge. We did not add a gym, a restaurant, or a list of promises. The water was already here.

A visit is a moment to slow down. You might leave lighter in your mood. We will not claim more than that.

Monday is closed so the stone can dry and the team can breathe.

Facilities

Four rooms, no more

A sauna with tiered pale timber benches under warm lights

Thermal suite

Sauna, steam, and a cool plunge no one is asked to use.

A small indoor plunge pool and an open shower in a white stone room

Hydrotherapy pool

Small, warm, and limited to a handful of guests.

A calm spa lounge with a low table, armchairs and a sofa

Relaxation room

Loungers, blankets, lemon water, silence.

A mossy stream running between ferns and rocks

Quiet garden

Benches under the willow. The stream does the talking.

Your first visit

Come in your own clothes

Come in your own clothes. We will show you a locker, a robe, and the order of the house. If you would like a treatment, it is already on the book. If you are only here for water and warmth, that is a complete visit too.

Share any health conditions or pregnancy at booking, or with your host on arrival. We are not a medical practice. We simply do not want to surprise you.

Meet the team

The people behind the door

  • Isla WrenSpa host. Isla meets you at the door and keeps the pace kind.
  • Jonah AdeyemiMassage therapist. Slow hands, and a clear question about pressure.
  • Mei ChenFacialist. Works with a light touch and very little scent.
  • Samir QureshiThermal host. Looks after the water, the heat, and the quiet.

When you are ready

The next quiet hour

Choose a package, or simply a time. We will confirm by email in this demo, and in life, by a person.
