What the echo is for
An echo is not a decoration. It is proof the room was listening.
People ask why the project is called Echo Room and not my name. Mara Voss is who signs the contracts. Echo Room is the place the songs think they are in.
On Night Registers I tried to remove the room and keep the piano. The record got smaller. On Room Tone I did the opposite and the songs finally had somewhere to stand.
If you are hearing this on a phone in a street, the echo is still doing its job. It reminds you there was once a box of air around the voice.
