The world’s largest BMW factory isn’t in Germany — it’s outside Spartanburg
- Plant Spartanburg built 412,799 vehicles in 2025 alone
- BMW’s official global home for every X-series SUV
- Boeing builds every 787 Dreamliner in North Charleston
- The Palmetto State, 8th to ratify the Constitution (1788)
How South Carolina’s digital economy grew
A palmetto-log fort repels the Royal Navy
The spongy wood absorbs British cannon fire at Sullivan’s Island — the origin of "The Palmetto State."
The real "Home of X"
BMW’s Spartanburg plant is its official global center of competence for X-series SUVs — the X3, X5, X6, X7 and XM are all built there, roughly 1,500 vehicles a day. It employs more than 11,000 people across a 10-million-square-foot campus, and BMW’s own production chairman confirmed in 2026 that it remains "the home of BMW Group’s largest plant worldwide." Roughly two-thirds of its output ships to more than 120 countries, and BMW Manufacturing has topped the list of largest US exporters by value for nine consecutive years.
The only place the 787 is built
Boeing opened its North Charleston plant in 2011 — its first-ever final-assembly line outside Washington State. Since 2021 it has been the exclusive global assembly site for every 787 Dreamliner Boeing builds, of every variant, employing more than 8,200 people. Both BMW and Boeing chose South Carolina in part for the same reason: direct access to Charleston’s harbor, the deepest on the US East Coast.
How South Carolina businesses buy websites
BMW and Boeing get the headlines, but most of South Carolina’s businesses are the trades and shops serving Charleston’s neighborhoods, Columbia, and towns across the rest of the state.
Trades and home services
The Upstate and the Lowcountry are very different markets — say plainly which one you serve.
Professional and B2B services
A manufacturing and logistics economy rewards clarity about exactly what you do.
Shops and hospitality
Charleston draws real tourist traffic — clear hours and offers matter here.

Why FastSites works here
