How a print gets to you

01
Separate the plates
Each ink is its own pass. Overlaps are how a third colour appears. We do not apologise for a millimetre of fringe.

02
Print a short stack
Editions of 25, 50 or 100. A4, A3 and A2 on stocks you can actually feel. Numbered in pencil when we print for real.

03
Take it home
Unframed in a tube, or framed in oak, black or white. Hang it out of the hard sun. Read the care note. Enjoy the pink.
Library photo, not Plate & Pigment. The three photographs are from a print-room library.

Six artists, one press.
Nobody here is collecting prizes in this story. They are drawing plants, nights, cloth, tables, weather and the odd letter M, then letting the drums argue a little.

About
Two printers, a framer, and a press that prefers bold shapes.
Plate & Pigment is an independent studio for risograph and other short-run print. We publish editions by the residents, take on custom jobs, and teach the odd Saturday. The address on this site is fictional. The enthusiasm for a badly-behaved overlap is not.
About the studioColour lab
Mix two or three inks before you commit.
Drag shapes, shift the plates, and watch the overlap invent a colour. Then send the sketch into a print enquiry. It stays on this device.

How three inks become five colours
We do not mix a green. Blue and sunflower sit on the same patch of paper and the green arrives by itself.
