A business email address on your own domain — you@yourbusiness.com rather than a personal Gmail address — is one of the fastest ways to look established to a new customer. Email settings live in your dashboard, separate from the site editor.
Where email settings live
Open Email settings from your dashboard. From there you can review your mailbox, set up aliases, and configure forwarding — all tied to the domain connected to your site.
Mailboxes and aliases
A mailbox is a real inbox with its own login. An alias is a lighter-weight address — sales@yourbusiness.com, say — that forwards straight into an existing mailbox rather than needing its own separate inbox and password. Aliases are the quicker way to have several sensible-looking addresses (sales@, support@, hello@) without managing a login for each one.
Forwarding and auto-reply
Forwarding rules let you route mail sent to one address on to another — useful if you'd rather read business mail in an inbox you already check daily. Auto-reply covers the common case of an out-of-office or "we've received your enquiry" message.
DNS records for email
Email delivery depends on a few DNS records (MX, and usually SPF/DKIM for deliverability) being set correctly at your domain. If your domain was registered through FastSites, these are set up for you; if you connected an existing domain, check the DNS records shown in Email settings against what's set at your registrar.
If mail isn't arriving
The most common cause is a DNS record that hasn't propagated yet, or one that was copied slightly wrong at an external registrar — recheck the exact values shown in Email settings against your domain's DNS panel before assuming something is broken on the FastSites side.
