Short bio

Maren Ashdown (b. 1984, Merehaven) is the author of The Ashen Crown, published by the fictional house Ledger & Hearth. She previously worked as a land-registry clerk. She writes slowly and measures twice.

Author statement

I wanted a fantasy in which the magic has a filing system. The fires are law. The map is an argument. If the crown looks romantic, look again at who is being asked to pay for mending it.
