About

A decorator’s studio, not a call centre.

True Coat is Maeve Alden and a small crew based in Chapel Market Mews. We still do the estimates ourselves, and we still sand the spindles.

The studio

A small crew, still on the tools

True Coat started in 2014 above a mews off Chapel Market. Maeve was tired of colour being sold as a moodboard and prep being sold as optional. The work is still local, still written down, and still finished by people whose names are on this page.

  • Maeve Alden

    Colour & estimates

Runs the walk-throughs and the palette edits. Started True Coat in 2014 after years on high-end repaints.

  • Jonah Adeyemi

    Site lead

On the tools. Particular about spindles, door edges, and not painting over a problem.

  1. Prep is the job

Colour is the last thin layer. Filling, sanding, and caulk are what people are actually paying for.

  2. Colour follows light

We do not pick from a phone screen. Samples go on the plaster and stay there overnight.

  3. Leave the house quieter

Paths kept clear, dust kept down, and a note of what was used so a future touch-up is possible.

See how a job actually runs.

Five steps, most of them unglamorous.
