Gloss used to mean durable, and it still does on a front door that takes weather. Inside, on skirting that meets vacuum cleaners and shoes, gloss mostly means you can see the filler.
Eggshell sits between matte and satin. It wipes clean, it does not shout, and it forgives a wall that is not perfectly flat beside it. We use it on doors, architraves, and handrails as a default, then step up to satin in a bathroom or a kitchen window board.
If you prefer the older bright gloss on internal doors, we will do it. We will also fill more carefully, because the sheen will report every shortcut.
