People imagine painting as colour. The sequence is mostly protection and dust. Ceilings before walls, so the fall does not speckle finished colour. Woodwork after walls only when we are cutting a crisp line; sometimes the reverse if the woodwork is a full repaint and the wall is a single coat up to it.
Stairs are their own small project. We work top down, keep a usable path, and do not block the only bathroom behind wet spindles at supper time. That is planned at the walk-through, not invented on Tuesday.
Wallpaper waits until the lining, if any, is flat and the room is not still a sanding bay. Exterior work waits for a forecast, not a mood. The order is the thing that makes a finish look expensive. The paint brand is secondary.
