About
A counsellor who will not hurry the useful part.
Nora Pell works with adults, one to one and occasionally with couples. The room is quiet on purpose.

Nora is an MBACP accredited counsellor. She works integratively: person-centred at the core, with a psychodynamic interest in the patterns people bring without meaning to.
Before training, she taught English in secondary schools. That history shows up as attention to language — the phrase you use every week, the one you avoid, the joke that arrives just as something true is about to be said.
She keeps a small practice so that the work can be properly held. Supervision is regular. The weeks are not packed edge to edge.
How the work is shaped
People often come with
- Anxiety that has become the organiser of the week
- Low mood, numbness, or a life that looks fine and feels thin
- Grief, including grief that arrived late or looked like irritability
- Relationships — romantic, family, friendship — and the roles you keep playing in them
- Work, vocation, and the fatigue of being capable
- Questions of identity, belonging, and change in adulthood
Honest limits
Where I will say no, or redirect
I am not an emergency service, and I do not provide crisis cover between sessions.
I am not the right counsellor for acute psychosis, active eating-disorder treatment, or situations that need a multi-agency team. I will say so, and help you look for a better match if I can.
I do not offer couples work where there is ongoing abuse or coercive control. Individual support, and signposting, is the ethical frame there.
