Good questions deserve clear answers.
Straight answers about what hosting is, what it covers and what it doesn’t.
Common questions
Can I buy hosting on its own?
No. Hosting comes with every FastSites plan. We don’t sell it separately.
Can I use my own hosting?
No. Your site runs on FastSites hosting, which is how we keep it fast, safe and backed up.
Do I have to pay for hosting as well as the plan?
No. Your plan price covers building your site and hosting it, so there is nothing extra to pay. You choose how often to pay: monthly, yearly or every two years. Yearly saves two months, and the longer the term, the less it costs per month.
How often is my site backed up?
Weekly on every plan. Daily backups are a paid add-on. A copy is also saved before each publish, and you can make your own any time.
Can I get daily backups on a plan that doesn’t include them?
Yes. You can add daily backups for one site from your Backups page, for £3.49 a month or £35 a year, and stop at the end of any period you have paid for.
Does a site backup cover my email?
No. A site backup saves your website. Your email inbox, your domain registration and your social media accounts are separate.
What if something breaks?
Stop editing, open Backups in your dashboard and restore the copy from before it broke. Or contact support.
Will my site use a secure HTTPS connection?
Yes. SSL is included and set up for you. If you connect your own domain, its certificate is issued automatically once your domain’s records point to us. Check the connection details beside the browser address; the icon varies between browsers.
Can I check changes before they go live?
Yes, on Standard, Premium and DIY Pro, which include a private staging preview. On other plans you publish straight to your live site, after a backup is saved.
How do I protect my account?
Switch on two-step sign-in in your dashboard: an authenticator app, an emailed code or a security key.
