Hosting · Staging

See the next version before everyone else.

Staging is a separate preview of your site where you can check a change before it reaches your live address.

The short version

  • A private preview address
  • Going live is its own step
  • On Standard, Premium and DIY Pro
  • A backup is saved before publish
How it works

Check the next version before anyone sees it.

Your changes go to a preview first. Nothing on your real site changes until you choose to go live.

1

Publish to your preview

Your changes go to a second address, yourname-staging.fastsites.app, that is separate from your real site.

2

Look around

Click through it on your phone and your computer.

3

Go live

Going live is its own deliberate step. Until you take it, nothing on your real site changes.

Why it matters

Most broken sites are an ordinary edit that looked fine in the editor and wrong once published. A preview catches that before anyone sees it.

On plans without staging, you publish straight to your live site. Unless you switch it off, a backup of the live site is saved first, and you can restore it from your Backups.

People also ask

Can I check changes before they go live?

Yes, on Standard, Premium and DIY Pro, which include a private staging preview. On other plans you publish straight to your live site, after a backup is saved.
