The first time she asks about the archive, he gives her the good answer: care, order, the ethics of the label. It is not false. It is simply the answer that has learned to travel. June nods, lets a silence do its work, and asks again. Harun laughs, not unkindly, and says the second asking is the one he trusts in other people and resists in himself. What he says then is smaller. He talks about a permission slip he kept because someone had written their name as if the name were still a question. He talks about leaving the profession and keeping the habit of dating things. The repeated question, she suggests, is not a trap. It is a chair pulled out a second time, in case the guest would like to sit differently. He says he would like that written down just so.#
