A small permission to begin
We started The Quiet Edition because we wanted a quarterly that trusted the reader to stay. No announcements of a new golden age of attention. Just essays, criticism, fiction and the odd letter from a kitchen, set in type and given room.
First Light is the issue in which we learned our own pace. Some of the pieces are by writers who have been with us since the kettle boiled on the first morning. If you have a copy, the cover was meant to feel warm in the hand. We hope it still does.
