When the sound has passed
A bell is a promise that something has changed: a class, a service, a shift, a day. This issue stays in the minute after that promise, when the air is still shaped like the sound and nobody has decided what to do with their hands.
You will find portraits that refuse the camera, a coat left where a person meant to return, and two conversations about making room for quiet without making a doctrine of it. We printed it on a stock that takes ink slowly. That felt right.
