The anchor
T-Systems Slovakia was founded exclusively in Košice in 2006 and grew into one of the largest employers in eastern Slovakia, a deliberate choice rather than an overflow from Bratislava.
That decision rests on the Technical University of Košice's TECHNICOM science park, dedicated research infrastructure for ICT, electrical engineering and automation — the same talent-pipeline logic that built Brno's and Cluj's IT-services sectors.
What that produces
An outsourcing and IT-services economy concentrated in eastern Slovakia, at a comfortable remove from Bratislava's higher costs, built specifically around the technical university's graduate output.
Košice is also Slovakia's second city and the historical centre of the country's east, with its own identity distinct from the capital's cross-border Vienna orientation.
The buyer
Technically trained, English-comfortable in the IT-services layer, more price-conscious than Bratislava. The wider city is a conventional eastern Slovak regional centre with its own strong civic identity.
The practical read
Be visibly of Košice rather than a Bratislava firm expanding east — the eastern-Slovak identity here is real and worth acknowledging directly, and pricing should reflect the lower regional cost base.
