Challenge

Regional managers felt the head-office awards were a London event with a camera pointed at them. Shortlists arrived as a surprise.

Approach

We moved the night to Bristol. Hosts were regional, not the executive committee. Criteria were published six weeks ahead so the shortlist was not a reveal.

Result

Managers stayed for dinner. Publishing the criteria cut the usual ‘how did they win?’ conversation in the sample feedback.
